Bed bug treatment in the GTA and Peel

First, this is not about being clean

Bed bugs have nothing to do with hygiene. They come home in luggage, on second-hand furniture, in a moving truck, from a hotel room, or through a shared wall in an apartment building. We find them in spotless houses constantly. There is nothing to be embarrassed about, and the sooner you call, the smaller and cheaper the job.

Possible signs of bed bugs

• Unexplained bites after sleeping can be one sign, but bites alone cannot confirm bed bugs. Some people do not react at all.
• Small dark spots on sheets, mattress seams or the box spring may be fecal spotting. They are often about the size of a pen dot and may smear when damp.
• Shed skins, which look like translucent empty bug shells, in mattress seams, along the bed frame or behind the headboard.
• The bugs themselves. Adults are flat, oval, reddish-brown and roughly the size of an apple seed. The young ones are much smaller and nearly see-through.
• A sweet, musty smell if the infestation is heavy.

Why broad sprays and foggers can make control harder

Broad sprays and foggers often miss the cracks and harbourages where bed bugs hide. Repellent products can also scatter activity into wall voids, adjacent rooms or neighbouring units, making the infestation harder to assess and treat. Call before applying anything if you suspect bed bugs.

How we do it

1. Discreet inspection. Unmarked vehicle. We check bedrooms, adjacent rooms and living room furniture, confirm what we are dealing with, and work out how far it has spread.
2. A written preparation plan. We explain what to launder, bag or move so treatment areas are accessible. Do not discard a mattress or other furniture before the inspection; it may be treatable, and moving infested items can spread activity through the building.
3. Treatment. A residual insecticide applied to harbourages and travel routes, targeted steam or heat on the worst areas, dust in wall voids and outlet boxes, and encasements on the mattress and box spring to trap anything left.
4. Scheduled follow-up. Bed bug programs commonly require a second and sometimes a third visit because eggs may survive the initial application. The recommended schedule is included in your written quote.
5. Verification. We re-inspect and may leave monitors to track activity. Any applicable 90-day written guarantee is explained before treatment begins.

Landlords, property managers and condo boards

In a multi-unit building, nearby units may also need assessment because bed bugs can move through shared spaces and service penetrations.
